When Atlassian doubled down on the Cloud, we at E7 were thrilled to see the opportunities that would open up for organizations to gain a glimpse of evolving from Server. However, with many considerations involved in pursuing a Cloud Migration - from cost to security and compliance - it's a big deal, especially for instances of large enterprises.
Watch Pam and Sarah talk through several common considerations about Atlassian Cloud, and how we can alleviate the migration process for your business. Or skim the transcription below.

Sarah:
Hey Pam, how're you doing?
Pam:
Hey Sarah, how are you today?
Sarah:
I'm doing great, how are you?
Pam:
Good, I'm doing well. Thanks.
Sarah:
Good, good to hear that. Thanks for jumping on a call with me.
Pam:
Hey no problem at all. What are you working on this week?
Sarah:
So right now cloud is a really big focus for Atlassian and E7. We have quite a few customers that are interested in making that move. There are a lot of things to consider, so I was hoping I could take some of your time today and we could go over that.
Pam:
Yeah, absolutely. That's a great question. And you're right, lots and lots of customers are moving to Atlassian Cloud and off of their on-prem instances of JIRA and Confluence. So that really is a key focus for us at E7 Solutions right now in helping the customers make that migration. And yeah, there's lots to consider. Cost, which is not the least is a big factor right now and with the loyalty discounts that Atlassian is offering, customers are getting up to 55% off if they make the move to cloud by July 1st of this year. And then after July 1st, the discount goes to 40%, but still it's huge. And customers can sign up for that discount for up to 24 months, so it's like getting a free year of licensing basically. So that's a big deal.
And then other factors, security and compliance, is huge as you know. When you're moving from on-prem to the cloud, you have to make sure that it's a secure, trusted, compliant environment. Customers have to make sure that their staff has full access, that all their users are provisioned and again, in a safe and secure manner. And then we really like to look at the environment, what applications are running, what customizations are there, what integrations might be there and we help them through that evaluation process to make sure it's a good move to go from on-prem to the cloud, so that's what we're doing.
Sarah:
That's awesome. That's really good information. So, not that a lot of that sounds pretty complex for companies or customers that are just running their day-to-day operations. They have their own responsibilities to take care of. So one of the benefits of having a partner with Atlassian is making that a little bit easier, that migration for customers. What would you say some of the more major benefits are when working with a partner for a cloud migration?
Pam:
Well certainly all companies moving to cloud don't need a partner to assist. It's the more complex environments, the larger scale enterprises, that need some support from a partner. And that's where a company like E7 can really benefit the client environment because we have the expertise. We've got a number of certified, highly trained Atlassian professionals that work for us that can help guide through that process. We've done this a number of times so we know the lessons learned, we know best practices. We know what obstacles or roadblocks to watch out for and it's a journey to cloud.
So we really help the customer develop not only their strategy to meet their business goals and objectives and to hit those critical factors that they need, but we give them a roadmap and we give them where their current state is, future state, and we chart out every step of the journey. And we do have a complexity migration matrix that we use and we'll do an analysis of the customer environment and really be able to give them timing and budget to make sure that they know what to expect and that they can sleep well at night knowing that that we can handle the migration for them. So those are some of the benefits about working with a partner to move to Cloud.
Sarah:
Okay, and then on top of that too, we were just awarded back-to-back for Cloud Partner of the Year in cloud services too, so that's one more benefit.
Pam:
That's right. That's what helps our clients sleep well at night, knowing that they're with a partner that out of the entire Atlassian ecosystem for two years we've been awarded number one when it comes to cloud services. So our customers know that they've got the best of the best and that we can help them navigate the complexity, not only of the migration, but even just the licensing ecosystem can sometimes be a challenge. And we've got the best software specialists on our team that help with that. So there's some really good advantage of working with E7 for sure.
Sarah:
That's awesome. Yeah, I definitely want to get into that. In our next series, we'll talk about some of the more benefits in working with E7 and how a partner can really benefit someone looking to make that migration. Pam, I just wanted to thank you for your time today and I look forward to talking to you on our next episode.
Pam:
Hey, you're welcome. Thank you so much Sarah.
Sarah:
Thanks Pam. We'll talk to you soon.
Pam:
Bye bye.
