Hey, Collin, happy Friday.

Collin:

Hi Pam, happy Friday to you, how are you doing?

Pam:

I'm doing great, thanks for joining us today. The last time we talked, you told me that you're an Agile Project Manager with E7 empowering both our internal teams and our external clients, and really appreciate your knowledge and expertise and happy to have you today.

Collin:

Well thanks so much and that's right, yep. I am an Agile Project Manager and it's great to be here. What's on your mind today, what would you like to chat about?

Pam:

Well, our mission at E7 is to impact the velocity of information so our clients can do their best and most meaningful work, but there's really a wide-range of work that our clients do. We cover accounts over all different industries, doing all kinds of unique jobs and tasks, and each of them have different kinds of workflows that they do. So I'm just wondering how Jira and Confluence alone can support all of the unique workflows that our clients have so that they can do their best and most meaningful work.

Collin:

That's a great question. And Jira and Confluence are certainly that foundation, but beyond that, Atlassian also offers over 4,000 marketplace apps that support any and every function from IT to business, to HR. And as a matter of fact, just this year alone, over 450 new Cloud apps have been added to that marketplace for support to our clients and Atlassian subscribers.

Pam:

That's great, I've heard Atlassian is very committed to extending the extensibility of the platform and they're even acquiring new companies to give new functionality to our customers. So they've acquired Good Software for analytics in Confluence. They've acquired Code Barrel for automation in JIRA and my personal favorite MindVille, which delivers Insight for asset discovery and asset management in our clients.

Collin:

Yeah, that's absolutely right. And grow through acquisition is certainly the Atlassian way, but that doesn't mean they're not committed to the success of the Cloud, which is why they're also including a page in space analytics for Confluence, as well as prebuilt automation rules, out of the box for JIRA service desk for asset management and configuration, this is all available to customers with premium Cloud licenses.

Pam:

Well, that's great insight. Now we have a lot of clients that are moving from traditional server licenses into the Cloud. How do they go about moving those apps from server to Cloud?

Collin:

Well sometimes it's just as easy to use some automated migration tools. It's really that simple other times in the Atlassian configuration management tools. And then other times it can beyond that when it's not so easy, we have to do some manual work and write scripts to move them or find a workaround for those resolutions.

Pam:

It sounds like that could potentially be a really big issue in a large enterprise or large environment.

Collin:

It can be, but it's a very complex but quickly evolving landscape, for large environments and enterprises the best option is to have an application migration assessment to avoid any surprises or downtime during your migration itself.

Pam:

I agree and E7 does that application migration assessment and we do it very well. It's part of our overall six-step process to move clients from on-prem solution into the Atlassian Cloud.

Collin:

Yeah, that's right, but don't forget about security because when apps move to the Cloud, they're no longer behind that client's secure firewall. The Cloud app sits with the application vendor from then on.

Pam:

So how can they be sure they're in a secure environment?

Collin:

Luckily Atlassian has gone through a number of measures to ensure that the app vendors are providing secure access to its customers. They have crowdsource security testing and then a badge that goes on that vendor site to show that they're in compliance with that security testing. They also require self-assessments and stringent privacy agreements from the vendors with rules of enforcement for those vendors as well. And if they don't comply, they get the boot.

Pam:

Yeah, Atlassian is really invested in delivering secure apps for clients to be able to move into the Cloud environment.

Collin:

Yeah, I certainly agree, they're doing a really good job. They really thought it out.

Pam:
